Bible verses about protection
Psalm 91 is probably the most-read protection text in the world: whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High rests in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 121 promises that the Lord guards your going out and your coming in; Proverbs calls the name of the Lord a strong tower the righteous run into. The Bible does not promise that nothing bad happens to believers — Psalm 91 itself is quoted in Jesus' temptation, and he refuses to put God to the test. What it promises is presence, refuge and care in the midst of danger. The verses on this page are for praying over children, the home, a trip, a police officer, a driver, and for the night when fear knocks at the door. Read all of Psalm 91 aloud before bed: it is an old habit, and for good reason.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.”
