Prayer of protection for my children

Lord, today I let go of my children's hands and place them in yours, which are bigger and steadier than mine.

Go with them where I cannot go: into the classroom, the playground, a friend's house, the street, the party, the distant city. Stay beside them on the bus, in the car, in the night.

Keep them from the danger that threatens the body and the one that threatens the soul. Deliver them from people who do harm, from company that drags down and from screens that steal. Give them discernment to sense when something is wrong and courage to walk away.

Surround them with angels and with good people. May they find teachers who care, friends who add to them and adults they can trust when I am not around.

And calm my parent's heart. I cannot be everywhere; you can. Take from me the fear that suffocates and give me the trust that blesses. Keep their going out and their coming in, today and always. Amen.
