Prayer for travel

For before hitting the road, boarding a plane or a bus: protection on the way, care for those who stay and peace on arrival.

Lord, I am about to travel and I ask you to go with me — ahead, beside and behind.

Keep the road. Protect the car, the plane, the bus, the boat. Give attention and calm to whoever drives and whoever flies. Deliver us from accidents, robberies and surprises that hurt. If there is a delay, let it serve to spare us from something worse.

Keep those who stay. Watch over my home and my family while I am away. May they have peace and may the missing be light.

Keep the arrival. May I meet good people, may the plans work out and may I have eyes to see whatever you want to show me in this new place. If the trip is for work, give me success; if it is for rest, give me real rest; if it is to visit someone, bless the reunion.

Bring me back safely. You keep my going out and my coming in. Amen.
