Prayer for work

Lord, I bring my work before you — the work I have or the work I am looking for. You know how much of my life, my hours and my thoughts it takes up.

If I am looking for a job, open doors. Put my name before the right people, give me clarity in interviews and patience in the waiting. Keep me from humiliation and despair. May I not accept what destroys me nor refuse what you are offering.

If I have work, help me do it well. Give me competence, honesty and good relationships with colleagues and bosses. Keep me from envy, gossip and pride. May I be known for keeping my word.

Give me balance. May work not devour my family, my health or my time with you. Teach me to rest without guilt.

I hand my livelihood over to you. Establish the work of my hands and let it serve someone's good. Amen.
