Prayer for making a decision
Facing a hard choice — career, a move, a relationship — a prayer asking for clarity, counsel and peace to decide.
Lord, I need to decide and I do not know what to do. You know both sides of this choice better than I do, with everything I cannot foresee.
Give me clarity. Help me see what is essential and what is noise, what is fear and what is prudence, what is my desire and what is your direction.
Give me good counselors. Put wise people in my path who will tell me the truth even when it is not what I want to hear. And give me humility to listen to them.
Keep me from paralysis. I know that waiting too long is also a decision. When the time comes, give me courage to choose and peace not to keep turning the choice over afterwards.
If I am about to make a mistake, close the door. If the path is yours, open it in a way I will recognize. I trust in the Lord with all my heart and do not lean only on my own understanding.
I hand this decision over to you. Make my paths straight. Amen.
