Morning

Prayer for a new week

For Monday morning: closing the week that passed, opening the one beginning and asking for the essentials for the next seven days.

Lord, a new week begins. Before I look at the calendar, I look at you.

Thank you for the week that passed — for what went well and also for what did not, because you were present in both. I leave behind what was left undone, what I could not manage and what I wish I had done differently. I do not want to carry last week into this one.

For the next seven days, I ask you for the essentials: health to work, clarity to decide, calm to listen, strength not to give up halfway. I ask that the important commitments find their place and that the unexpected does not steal my peace.

Bless the people I will share this week with: colleagues, family, friends, strangers. Let me be a reason for rest to them, not a burden.

Keep me from running so fast that I forget you. Set aside a place for silence in every day. And when the weekend comes, may I look back and see your hands in every part of it. Amen.
