Morning

Morning prayer

A short prayer to hand over the day before it begins: thanks for rest, a request for direction and courage for whatever comes.

Lord, thank you for this morning. Thank you for the night's rest, for the air filling my lungs and for the chance to begin again. Before the day fills up with tasks, I want to stop for a moment before you.

I do not know everything that will happen today. I know there will be things I planned and things I did not expect. I ask you to go ahead of me. Direct my steps, my words and my decisions. When I have to choose, give me wisdom; when I have to wait, give me patience; when I have to speak, give me kindness.

Keep my family and the people I will meet. Make me someone who brings peace wherever I enter. Remind me that the work I have is a service to you, and help me do it wholeheartedly, without rush and without fear.

If something hard comes today, do not let me face it alone. And if something good comes today, help me recognize that it came from your hands.

May your mercy, new every morning, be the first thing I see today — and the last thing I remember tonight. In Jesus' name. Amen.
