Easter prayer
For Easter Sunday: celebrating the empty tomb and asking that the resurrection reach what is dead in our own lives.
Lord Jesus, today is the day of the empty tomb. "He is not here, for he has risen" — the women heard it at dawn, and we repeat it two thousand years later, with the same surprise.
Thank you for going through Friday. For the cross, the pain, the abandonment, the real death. You did not skip any part. That is how I know that when I go through my own Fridays, you understand.
And thank you for Sunday. For defeating death, not in theory, but with a body Thomas could touch. For making death a door, not a wall.
Today I ask you for resurrection for what is dead in me: the hope I buried, the relationship I gave up on, the faith that went cold, the dream I abandoned. If you rose from the tomb, you can raise that too.
May the joy of this Sunday last the whole week. May I live as one who knows that death is not the last word.
You are the resurrection and the life. Happy Easter. Amen.
