Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this:
Context and meaning
Psalm 37 answers an uncomfortable question: why do dishonest people seem to prosper? The answer is not a theory but a series of practical instructions — do not fret, trust, delight, commit, rest, wait.
"Commit" translates a Hebrew expression that literally means "roll onto" — like transferring a heavy load off your own back onto another carrier. The image is physical, not sentimental.
Notice what is not handed over: the way is still walked. The psalm does not suggest stopping action; it suggests stopping carrying the outcome alone.
The promise is short: "he will do it". It does not say when or how. And verse 7 adds the hardest part: "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him."
It is a good text for anyone between a decision made and a result not yet visible — and for anyone who gets irritated comparing their own life with other people's.
