Prayer for my children

For parents to pray over children of any age: protection, wisdom, friendships, faith and a good path.

Lord, I hand my children over to you. Before they are mine, they are yours; you formed them and know them from the inside. I say each name before you: (names).

Keep them. Protect their bodies, but also their minds and hearts. Deliver them from bad company, from the traps I do not see and from the ones they do not yet know how to recognize.

Give them wisdom beyond their years. May they know how to choose friendships, say no when they must and ask for help without shame. May they find teachers, mentors and friends who lead them toward good.

Give them faith. May they know you not only through my words but through their own experience. May your Word make its home in their hearts, and when I am not near, may you be.

And help me be the parent they need: present without smothering, firm without wounding, able to apologize. Forgive me for my mistakes with them and heal whatever I have hurt without meaning to.

I entrust them to you today and every day. Amen.
