Blessing prayer for the home

For a new house, a move or simply to dedicate the home: asking God to dwell in every room.

Lord, we hand this house over to you. Unless you build the house, those who build it labor in vain — so we ask you to be its builder and its resident.

Bless the door: may peace come in through it and love go out; may it open for those in need and close against what does harm.

Bless the table: may bread never be lacking and may there always be room for a guest. May meals be moments of conversation and gratitude.

Bless the bedrooms: may sleep be peaceful, may the children grow up safe and may the couple find rest in each other.

Bless the living room: may conversations be honest, forgiveness quick and laughter frequent.

Bless the walls and the roof: protect this house from storm, theft, fire and every evil. May it be a shelter, not just an address.

And bless those who live here. May this home be known as a place where you are worshiped, where the Word is read and where any tired person finds rest. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Amen.
