Prayer for my marriage

Lord, I bring my marriage before you. Thank you for the person you placed at my side, for what we have already lived together and for what is still to come.

Renew our love. May it not depend only on feeling, but be a decision renewed every day — patient, kind, keeping no record of wrongs. Where love has cooled, warm it; where it has grown tired, give it breath.

Watch over our words. May we never use what we know about each other to wound. May the silence between us be one of rest, not of hurt. Teach us to talk about hard things without raising our voices.

In the crises, do not let us give up too soon. Give us humility to seek help when we need it and courage to change what needs changing. Keep us from the temptation of comparing our marriage to others'.

Put yourself at the center of our home. May we pray together, decide together and forgive together. May the threefold cord — the two of us with you — not be broken.

Bless my spouse today with health, peace and the certainty of being loved. Amen.
