Bible verses for mothers
When the Bible wants to describe God's comfort, it uses the image of a mother: "as one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you". Proverbs ends with children rising up to call their mother blessed; Paul recalls the faith Timothy received from his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice; the commandment to honor father and mother comes with a promise of long life. There are also unnamed mothers and grieving mothers, and the Bible does not hide them. The verses on this page are for Mother's Day, for the card, for the tribute at church, for the mother who has just had her first child and for those who miss a mother who has passed. Choose one and write her name: "blessed" reads even better with an addressee.
Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also praises her:

Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom. Kind instruction is on her tongue.
