Biblical joy runs deeper than a good mood. Nehemiah tells a weeping people that the joy of the Lord is their strength; Paul writes "rejoice always" from inside a prison; Jesus, on the night he would be arrested, speaks of joy made full. This is not denial of pain — it is the discovery that joy has another source, one that does not dry up when circumstances get worse. Psalm 16 locates that source: "in your presence is fullness of joy".
